Hey all, As you know, I’m a web designer/developer (but mainly designer) and I have released a new website called Rankjanx. It is a site where you can hate things, love things, and want things… with the idea being lists of what people think about things. After seeing so many “Things I Hate” videos on Youtube, I decided to put it up on the web… because people obviously want a place to do it, and if they don’t like having a face with their negativity, then Rankjanx is perfect. But just a hate site seemed a bit dark, so I opened it up to Things People Hate, Things People Love, and Things People Want. Please check it out, and if you like it, spread the link around to your friends. It’s a pretty awesome site, and I’m sure you’ll agree if you give it a shot. Tech Details: As always, I’ll give some details as to the tech side of what’s going on. The site uses wordpress as a CMS or Content Managing System. WordPress is awesome, and that’s why I use it for almost every site I make. There is a plugin that is highly used called Vote It [...]

I was faced with the trouble of moving my wordpress blog from one host to another about a year ago, and I needless to say, I read a lot of articles on the best ways to move your blog from one host to another. However, they all involved taking your existing files, and copying/pasting and then editing for changes. Now, if that suits you then by all means read no further, but I found that myself and many other ran into a plethora of problems when attempting this procedure due to the massive amount of minor lines of code that can trip you up when doing this… if you’re going to try this method, you’d better be sure that you find EVERYTHING, and that is quite a hassle. So, I decided to go a different route that I found completely by accident. I was aimlessly browsing through my WordPress Dashboard and clicked under the heading “Tools” to see two options, “Import” and “Export” and I thought… what are these? Is the import a good way to get a lot of pictures or other media into wordpress to enter into posts perhaps? But then what is the export? What I found [...]

For some reason, everyone seems to want to know how to get their comments ranked up on YouTube, or Yahoo Answers or whatever the hell they are commenting on. Why? I'm not quite sure, but once you get a bunch, other people tend to look at your comment and click "like" without much thought at all.

Whether or not you have a good reason for wanting to boost your comments or not, here is the secret to getting a ton of thumbs ups on YouTube:

Hey guys, this is a special day. I have been toiling away for the past week working on an awesome new project, Bamefi! Bamefi is a unique site, because it is a hybrid of a social networking site with a job board. It allows users, to post band openings, and search for band openings, all the while allowing users to contact one another via the same website. Now, this is a graphic design blog, so I’ve got to at least tell you some of the web stuff related to it. First off, this site is powered by wordpress, and it is running buddypress on top of that. I have also found a few great plug ins that allowed me to do all of the functions that I needed. For the design aspect of things, I tried to keep it very simple, and clean. I took some design cues from the new Twitter, and mixed them with a few of my own. The end result is a user friendly dream, and it looks great. Check it out everyone, even if you don’t want to start a band, you can admire the site from a website’s perspective. It’s a beauty, and I [...]
